Monte Rosa hut

Hi, Anyone been to Monte Rosa hut recently ? Wondering about the new route (would you recommend taking new route ? which is easier and which is more picturesque), and the conditions of the glaciers (few years ago crampons and rope weren't really necessary, I guess that's not the same now?). If anyone wants to join, I'm planning to go there on Thursday to Friday night (August 22 - 23).
